Pinhole Free 95/5 Saturated Polyester HAA Primid Powder Coating Resin
◎Introduction
KK7701 is a saturated carboxyl polyester resin designed for Primid T-105 powder coating to be cured at 180℃.
Pinholes are common defects in the use of powder coatings. Their existence not only affects the appearance quality of products, but also seriously affects the mechanical properties and protective properties of products. Most of the corrosion of protected materials starts from this point and extends, thus losing the use value of powder coatings. Therefore, it is of practical significance to minimize the occurrence of pinholes during the use of powder coatings.
Pinhole refers to the defect formed when the gas in the powder coating passes through the high viscosity, nearly closed elastic resin layer from the bottom layer to the coating surface and fails to escape during the time from melting to curing of the powder coating. It is formed on the surface of the paint film, because the solvent volatilizes too fast during construction or the bubbles in the paint film cannot flow flat after overflowing, resulting in needle shaped holes left after drying.
We can solve the problem of thick film pinholes in HAA system by adding inhibitors.
